Photography basics, Part 3: Lens types and perspective — How different lenses change your photos
Introducing the third photo is “lens type and perspective.” The fun of choosing a lens as you start learning about cameras, I want to learn the differences between easy-to-understand lenses!

Lens Type and Focal Distance
The first thing I want to learn about lenses is the “angle of view.” That’s what you can see in a picture. It depends on how wide, standard and telephoto lens focal lengths are.
24mm|wide-angle lens

50mm|standard Lens

85mm _ Middle Telephoto Lens

105mm _ Middle Telephoto Lens

The shorter the focal length, the wider the angle of view and the wider the range to be seen. On the other hand, I think you can see that the longer the focal length lens is, the narrower the angle of view and the larger your subject will be.
difference in perspective by focal length
The difference in focal length of each lens can also be used to create a sense of perspective, and the bottom is an example where two chairs placed back and forth were taken with different lenses.
24mm|wide-angle lens

50mm|standard Lens

The size of the chairs in front is roughly the same as those in the two pictures above, which are taken close to a meter from the one in front when it comes to 24mm lenses and about 2 meters away for 50mm lenses.
The size of the chair in front is the same, but what's different is that the size of the back chair is different: you can see that the wide-angle lens has a smaller back chair, which means more emphasis on perspective.
85mm _ Middle Telephoto Lens

105mm _ Middle Telephoto Lens

And as you get to 85mm and 105mm, your perspective gradually disappears and the depth is being compressed.
"Compressive Effect" Disappears Perspective
The “compressive effect” obtained by a telephoto lens is actually used for taking photos of an open-air bath that you can see in travel related posters. In fact, although it is far away, the image can be taken as if there was an outdoor bath at the end of the wave. Rather than looking at it with your eyes, the effects on the lenses make it look like they are close to you.
On the other hand, wide angles have an effect of making space look wider when shooting indoors. They emphasize a sense of perspective rather than actually looking at it with your eyes. It may be interesting to try different lenses depending on what use they are used. Since the focal length of the lens is written in the camera catalog, please refer to them if you choose cameras and lenses.
This is the end of the story about cameras and lenses. Next time, I will introduce "the tips for taking pictures"。I would like to tell you a point that your usual photos will be slightly better with little ingenuity!
