Drawing fish for a living: Three years after moving to Ishigaki Island to become a fish illustrator — Nonsta Folks #2 with Yusei Nagashima
Hello. I'm Oura for CSR.
In the non-standard world, we hold an event called “nonsta folks” where you can think about one theme without holding your shoulders as a place between drinking parties and study sessions. This time I will introduce how this second event was held in January of this year.

From a salaried man to an artist!
This time, the guest was Mr. Nagashima who is active as a fishfu artist (Gyofugaka) who moved to Ishigaki Island in 2016 where he worked for an advertising company in Tokyo and has chosen to paint his favorite fish since childhood.

We met about six years ago through a friend of our company representative Takasaki, and at the same time we were fascinated by Nagashima’s pictures of fish.We were also attracted to young-looking eyes who lived with the underlying philosophical ideas, and had deepened our friendship while making business exchanges so far.
I didn’t have a chance to talk slowly after I moved to Ishigaki Island, so I was looking forward to this day to hear what you are thinking and feeling again!

Aomori in the north and Kumamoto in the south, fans gather from all over Japan.
To participate in this event, fans from all over the country came to Aomori in the north and Kumamoto in the south!
In the first half of the meeting, we held a talk session by Nagashima and our representative Takasaki. We asked him to write a "life graph" in advance, and he asked us about his past career centered on why I decided to quit my job as a salaryman and paint fish.
Nagashima wrote a graph that is almost flat: "I've been satisfied with it all the time, and there are no waves" (surprising!) because he continues to think that it is important to forgive himself at all times.
"I want to have a loveful, noisy spirit."
"If you want to do it, just do it."
"Even if you're in the sea, the ocean doesn't feel like me at all. I love it."
Other words came out, and the temperature of the venue warmed up as all participants nodded with laughter in the way that Mr. Nagashima had lost his shoulder strength.

Enjoy special dishes on the theme of Okinawa
At the end of the talk session, it was time to interact with food coordinator Sato while surrounding his cooking as before. The participants were excited about asking questions to Nagashima and getting along quickly with each other. On that occasion a LINE group was formed, and after that, a second meeting was held.

The menu is "Original Okinawan dishes full of fish".

This year’s event was held with a luxurious privilege of depicting fish inspired by each participant! It seems that he has done the style to listen and draw favorite fish, but this time it is completely entrusted. The participants seemed to be inflating their expectations for an unpredictable present.

It's fun to learn with someone!
When we opened the second Non-Stuff Fork, we reaffirmed the fun of learning and realized that it would be even more interesting if you were with someone! It was a second time when people on various life stages started to see the significance of this place clearly because it became a place where small groups can interact and bring back side connections.
It will be irregular in the future, but we plan to plan an event so please look forward to it.
