Introduction to Building Web Services: The Development Process — Part 2
The second transcript of the non-sta cafe "Let's learn how to build web services" that took place in April was: "Processes for developing Web Services? Second part?" Once you have decided on a plan and raised money, start building your team! (The first part is here.) here 。)

team up
As for textbooks, it is often written as an iron plate that starts with the three people of "designer", "engineer" and "marketer".
Designers decide the surface of web services such as operability and look & feel. On the other hand, engineers think about how to store membership information, for example, and present information when a request comes in. And even if you create something good, it doesn't spread without anyone to connect with the world. Marketer is the person who connects service and customer.
It is generally said that it's better to start with three or three types of professionals like this.
implement
What is a program?
Implementing is the task of forming a web service. Web services are codes and programs. So I thought about what programming is -- one answer: "It's written in words that computers can understand what you want your computer to do." The instructions are called program code.
When you think about computers as your subordinates, what they do is that they work perfectly from 1 to 10 according to the instructions. They're good at repeating the same thing and not making bad faces all night long. But there are also cases where they don't do anything they don't direct or misdirect themselves. In the past, tens of thousands of cases took place on NTT's IP phone.
There are two main ways to develop a blogram.
- waterfall development
- Agile development
This depends on how you think about the program.
waterfall development
Waterfall development is about dealing with programs like hardware, appliances and architecture. As the term waterfall implies, we develop them so that water falls down; therefore, we can completely draw a blueprint on top of a waterfall to flow under it. The advantage is that many people are used to it because they build things like buildings or household appliances. Because waterfalls have their disadvantages, even if you want to get back up (when planning progresses) when you’re going to fall down (if you want to fix your plan).
Agile development
Agile in agile means "quick and agile", but it's developed to look like something from a novel or movie. You repeat your drawing, you write code and then rewrite what you have formed. The benefit is that it fills the discomfort when you actually shape what you think of with your head. The downside is that there are no signs where you end up. It can be difficult for client work.
Facebook is famous for agile development because it's about twice a week when you're in agile development. Web services change the way of thinking depending on how many people use them, so I think agile development is the way we can be flexible.
If you’re starting right now, waterfall development may be good if the requirements are set, but we recommend agile development if you want to see your reaction.
utilization of a framework
When it comes to agile development, it's more important than anything else to get shape early because there are a lot of tools-frameworks that can help. I think frameworks are easy to understand when you think about them as "any person with any skill or idea can achieve certain results if they follow the mechanisms and rules."
As an example, let's think about it in a convenience store management. One person is in charge of cashiers and one person is in charge of POS. There was a manual that said "When the shop gets crowded, stop POS and go to the cashier," but because there are different standards for "crowding" among employees, people often fight each other. Therefore, if you change the manual by "if two or more customers line up at the cashiers, stop POS and go to the cashier", then there will be fewer fights. This is an example of a framework where the term "mixed" is subjective and varies from person to person, but everyone can understand "more than 2 people" as well. According to its mechanism and rules, any person with any skill or idea can cope with the same problem when the store is crowded.
An Example of Famous Framework
As a web services framework: Twitter Bootstrap You can design a web service like Twitter by downloading it and designing along with it. It's the front page of programming frameworks, while Ruby on Rails is well known for its programming framework. This is also the programming used in Twitter: if you code according to the rules of Ruby on Rails, services such as Twitter will be easily created.
In this way, I think it is better to develop a framework that makes things easy to come up with even if you do not study and develop programs from scratch.
release
Good stuff is not going to be used without publicity, and it's said that you should use as much energy as you would have spent on development from the release.
promote
From "Tell" to "Tell".
Now, how do we promote it? Because this is an information society, there are said to be 10,000 times more information available in a day than 30 years ago. In the U.S., they say that they will touch 20,000 advertisements per year. How can you see them in such a situation? I think that the stance of "communication" is better than the one-sided "conveyance" stance. "Emotionless information is not transmitted." Customers hate selling but love shopping.
have one's customers become fans
It is also important to have our customers become fans, and in order for us to be a fan, it’s important how much we send emotional information. Once For example, instead of explaining that you can manage money and time with the Time Tracking tool, it was more liked by Facebook to say “I want to support the independence of nomad workers, solve the money and time problems Nomad has” blog post.
It may be the first time you can support us when we hear about where our products are aiming and what kind of problems they solve in the world.
Then it's important to invite them backstage. They tell you about their hardships, whether they are good or bad. AKB48 is a successful example of that. We go out the other side and make it into documentary and film. I think naked people will follow us.
The key word is “I want you to be a fan” and “I want to support them without thinking about it”.
utilization of a blog
There's a general way to advertise, like Google's interlocking ads. Depending on the keyword, it costs about 200 yen per click. I think that blogging is more effective than writing and becoming a fan. When we write a blog, you come to see around 100 people, so it will be effective for 20,000 yen. Even if ordinary advertising methods are good, I feel recently that getting them to become fans is the most important thing.
These were the six processes of web service development: "Planning", "Funding", "Team Building", "Implementing", "Releasing" and "Promotion".
Web services are a place where people connect, so it feels like you’re opening a store. Be the second Mark Zuckerberg!
