Visiting the Saul Leiter exhibition with our arts appreciation allowance

Hi, I'm art director Sato.

and our company says, Art appreciation allowance There is an in-house system called “Acceptance.
With a maximum of 5,000 yen per month, the staff will support their art appreciation (pictures, music, movies, theater and dance) on condition that they write blogs within two weeks after viewing.

This system is being used at the Bunkamura The Museum a legendary photographer born in new york, eternal saul writer. I went to the exhibition.

about saul writer.

Saul Writer was born in 1923, Pennsylvania.

He was a photographer who has been active in fashion magazines since the 1950’s, but eventually he left the world of fashion for free creative activities and began to focus on self-work that he had been working on.

However, it was only recently that his self-work works which were rarely published became a limelight; even after his death in 2013, he continued to “excavate” the vast amount of work left unorganized at an atelier, increasing his reputation as a pioneer for color photography.

About the Exhibition

This exhibition is a sequel to the retrospective exhibition held in 2017.
The last time I was completely fascinated by that photo, so this time I looked forward to it again.

Saul Writer’s work has a sense of depth and air, as well as his own color sense.

The 1950s works do not feel old beyond time, and the cityscape cut out through the perspective of a sole writer will impress you freshly.

For example, the works that depicted a person through glass can be imagined as someone who is not clearly shown because of their focus on the glass in front of them.

It was a wonderful exhibition where you can get very inspiration because the margin of imagination is left behind.

If you are interested, please go and see it.
