hosting
I originally wanted to use Oxygen, the official hosting environment that Shopify has prepared for me, but when we decided on a migration, it was only available in Shopify’s enterprise plan: PLUS.
Specifically, we looked at Cloudflare, Netlify and Vercel, but the fact that every PaaS is not garbled in part of Japanese has led to its rejection.
Ultimately, we deploy Docker to a PaaS called fly.io that replicates the exact same environment as our local one in a remote environment.
As of February 10, 2023, Oxygen is now available for all plans beyond the Basic plan, so I hope you can try it out.
Backend
We use Shopify for the EC backend and Contentful for the CMS back-end.
As for contentful, we didn't have any integration tools available, so we parse the response that was being sent back by GraphQL.
Impressions of Hydrogen
This time it was a project to port the headless commerce site made with GatsbyJS into Hydrogen.
Until now, I used to do SSG (static site generation) in GatsbyJS, so it took a build time every time the site was updated, but I think that it is convenient to become Hydrogen and lose it.
Also, Shopify integration is available in advance, so if you want to do headless commerce with Shopify, I think it’s good to adopt basic Hydrogen.
Liquid if you want to go fast, Hydrogen if you want to go far away.
Liquid is very useful for doing minimal start-ups, and I think that the more successful the EC business has grown, the faster it runs on a site and results in better conversion rates, easier to get along with various backend mechanisms, and the benefits of Hydrogen team development efficiency.

Next, we would like to publish our Hydrogen development manual so please look forward to it!
